What are Customers?

A Customer in LiquidIndex is basically a data container. Think of it as creating a separate filing cabinet for each user in your application. When you create a customer, you’re setting up an isolated space where documents can live and be searched. Each customer gets their own private collection that’s completely separate from everyone else’s data. When to create customers:
  • New user signs up → Create a customer
  • User wants separate workspaces → Multiple customers per user
  • Team collaboration → Multiple users share one customer ID

Upload Sessions

Instead of dealing with file uploads on your own servers, LiquidIndex gives you Upload Sessions - secure URLs where users upload documents directly to us. Here’s how it works:
  1. Create Upload Session: Your backend calls the session API and gets back a secure upload URL.
  2. Redirect User: Redirect your user to that URL where they’ll see our upload interface.
  3. User Uploads: User uploads files or connects Google Drive through our hosted interface.
  4. User Returns: User gets redirected back to your success or cancel URL when done.
  5. Processing Happens: We automatically process, chunk, and index all uploaded documents.
